Autowatch Ghost 2 Immobiliser System
Prevent key-cloning and relay theft with a covert CAN-bus immobiliser. No extra key fobs or LEDs, just your unique disarm sequence using the vehicle’s own buttons. The market leader in CAN-bus immobilisation for 10 years.
Why choose Ghost-II
- Secret disarm sequence via factory buttons, no RF fobs to clone.
- Stealth CAN-bus integration.
- Service/Valet mode for workshops and handovers.
- Capable of connecting to 2 phones and 2 fobs.
- You can set, and change, your disarm sequence.
- Incredibly compact, easily hidden in a loom
How it works
After installation, switch the ignition on and enter your custom sequence using existing buttons. Wait for the two confirmation flashes, then start and drive as normal. Change the sequence at any time.
Smart immobilisation allows for remote heat/cool functions to still work using the factory applications such as “JLR InControl” or “Ford App”. Simple and convenient.
Service / Valet Mode
Temporarily suspend the disarm requirement while your vehicle is in a workshop or valet parking. Exit service mode by entering your sequence with ignition on, or by continuous driving for more than 15 minutes (*configurable at installation).
Emergency Code
Every Ghost-II comes with a randomly generated emergency code. Using this code will disarm the Ghost-II as well as start a new disarm sequence learning. This will get you moving should the buttons not work or the disarm sequence has been forgotten.
Compatibility
Ghost-II supports a wide range of makes and models. Please check current compatibility before booking.

How is the Autowatch Ghost-II installed and how long does it take?
The Ghost-II is installed by an Autowatch trained and approved third-party technician directly into your vehicle’s CAN bus network, the internal communication system that connects your car’s electronic components.
During installation, your technician will programme a unique disarm sequence and brief you on all methods of authorisation available to you, including a disarm sequence via existing vehicle buttons, key-fob, or smartphone. You will then be able to change the disarm sequence once the technician has left.
They will show you how to use service / valet mode, which allows you to handover the car for work or parking without revealing the disarm sequence or even the fact that a Ghost-III has been installed.
Finally, the technician will show you how to use your emergency code should the standard disarm sequence stops working.
To arrange installation, contact Autowatch directly on 01732 886 777 or at sales@autowatch.co. (Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm) and the team will connect you with an approved installer in your area.
How much does the Autowatch Ghost-II immobiliser cost?
The total cost of a Ghost-II immobiliser includes both the unit and professional installation by an approved Autowatch technician. Pricing varies depending on the installer and your vehicle, so the best way to get an accurate figure is to contact your local installer. The standard recommended retail price for a Ghost-II is £499 inclusive of VAT.
Ghost immobiliser installations are a one-off investment with no ongoing subscription or maintenance fees. When weighed against the cost of a vehicle theft claim, including the insurance excess, uplift in subsequent premiums, and the disruption of losing a vehicle, the investment is modest for most owners.

Which vehicles is the Ghost-II compatible with?
The Ghost-II is compatible with over 1000 vehicles, spanning a wide range of manufacturers including Audi, BMW, Land Rover, Mercedes-Benz, Toyota, Ford, Volkswagen, and many more. Compatibility covers both standard petrol/diesel models, hybrids, and fully electric variants across numerous model years.
Because compatibility depends on your specific make, model, and year, we always recommend checking before booking installation. Use the compatibility checker at autowatch.co.uk/products/ghost/compatibility to confirm your vehicle is supported.
If your vehicle is not listed, contact the Autowatch team directly. Our highly trained team of technical development engineers work to extend compatibility to new platforms on an ongoing basis.
Note: The Ghost-II uses a single CAN bus network. For newer vehicles running high-speed CAN-FD protocols, the Ghost-III will be the only unit compatible. Speak to the team if you’re unsure which system suits your vehicle.
Does the Ghost-II come with service mode and valet mode?
Yes. The Ghost-II has a service mode / valet mode, allowing you to hand your vehicle over to a workshop, garage, or valet service without compromising your security setup.
In service mode, the immobilisation requirement is temporarily suspended so the vehicle can be driven and serviced by a third party without them needing to know your disarm sequence. You activate service mode yourself before handing over the vehicle, and deactivate it again by entering your sequence when you collect it.
This means your personal disarm sequence never needs to be shared with anyone.
Note: Service mode will automatically exit should the car be driven for a pre-programmed continuous time, by default this is 15 minutes. There is no speed limiter in service mode. There is no limit to the number of journeys of less than 15 minutes (or other programmed time) that can be done. When automatic service mode exit happens the car will not shut down, the Ghost-II will rearm once ignition has been switched off.
Is the Ghost-II TASSA verified, and does it help with insurance?
Yes. The Autowatch Ghost-II is TASSA (Tracker and Aftermarket Signals Security Association) verified. TASSA is an industry body that verifies aftermarket vehicle security products, and verification signals that the device meets recognised security standards.
Many insurance providers view TASSA-verified and Thatcham-recognised security devices positively. Some insurers offer reduced premiums for vehicles fitted with qualifying aftermarket security. We recommend contacting your insurer directly before and after installation to understand their specific position and any documentation they may require.
In some cases, annual premium savings can offset part of the installation cost over time.
Can the Ghost-II be detected or bypassed by thieves?
No. The Ghost-II is designed to be near completely undetectable. Unlike traditional aftermarket security systems, it has no external components, no key fob, and no radio frequency signal that can be intercepted, jammed, or cloned.
Because it integrates invisibly within the vehicle’s CAN bus wiring, a thief has no way to identify it through visual inspection. There is no broadcast signature to detect.
Even if a thief gains access to the OBD port, the Ghost-II operates independently and cannot be overridden through OBD-based devices. The vehicle simply will not drive without the correct disarm sequence being entered.
Note: Should the Ghost-II be found by a thief and removed, all immobilisation will be disabled and the vehicle will drive. This is why correct and careful installation is paramount to the security of the device.
How do I disarm the Ghost-II, and what options are available?
The Ghost-II supports three methods of disarming, depending on your installation:
- Disarm sequence (PIN): Enter your custom sequence using buttons already fitted to the car. Such as steering wheel controls, door switches, or dashboard buttons. This is the standard method and is available on all installations.
- Key-fob: A discreet physical tag that can be used to authorise the vehicle instead of or in addition to the disarm sequence.
- Smartphone: App-based authorisation is available on compatible setups, allowing you to disarm passively via your phone.
Note: When the smartphone app or key-fob is used for disarming, there is a corresponding decrease in security as a thief with access to the vehicle’s keys and the key-fob will be able to drive the vehicle without needing to disarm using the disarm sequence. Additionally, should the smartphone be in range of the vehicle it will be disarmed. Make sure your installer has set the disarm range to the minimum possible on your specific installation.
What is the difference between Ghost-II and Ghost-III, and should I upgrade?
The Ghost-II is the second-generation Autowatch Ghost immobiliser and uses a single CAN bus network. It is compatible with a very wide range of vehicles and has been a proven, trusted platform for many years.
The Ghost-III is the all-new platform built around next-generation CAN-FD (Controller Area Network Flexible Data-rate) technology. It features dual CAN networks, a new high-speed processor, and is designed specifically to support the latest vehicles that use high-speed CAN-FD protocols, which the Ghost-II cannot physically support.
n practical terms: if your vehicle was manufactured from around 2024, and uses a newer high-speed network architecture, the Ghost-III is likely the right choice. For the broad range of existing vehicles, the Ghost-II remains a highly capable and fully supported system.
The Ghost-II is no longer in production, with the Ghost-III being the only supported CAN based Ghost Immobiliser. This does not mean that an already installed Ghost-II needs to be upgraded, it simply means that in future your next vehicle may not be compatible with the Ghost-II.
